10:12. Hinges of power shafts - the general information and service
General information
For a complete set of power shafts of the cars considered in the present manual hinges of several various types can be used. The concrete choice is defined by the engine capacity, transmission type, position of the hinge on a shaft (internal or external) and even situation actually in bulk on the car (right or left).
Before starting to any sort to service of the hinge (including replacement of a protective cover) it is necessary to define its design. First of all it is necessary to pay attention to identification number of hinged assembly, - number is usually applied on the big face surface of the hinge, sometimes marking can be beaten out on the ends of bandage tapes.
As it was already mentioned above, on the cars considered in the present manual several, namely three types of hinges of power shafts, it is used: Birfild's (BJ) hinges, tripodny hinges (TJ) and hinges of double compensation (DOJ).

Birfild's hinges are not subject to dismantling and in case of failure are replaced assembled. |
Important operational parameter of hinges of all types is the distance between bandage litas of fastening of a protective cover, - excessive extension of a cover, or its too free landing can lead to formation of cracks, loss of lubricant and hit in hinged assembly of dirt and moisture.

For stuffing of hinges of power shafts the special lubricant without fail delivered in a set with replaceable covers is used. |
Hinges of double compensation (DOJ)
Removal
|
|
|
1. DOJ hinges differ from other in larger overall dimensions and are usually used as internal CV JOINTS.
2. Remove a power shaft from the car (see the Section Removal and installation of power shafts).

3. Estimate a condition of a rubber protective cover. |
|
|
4. Bokorezami have a bite metal bandage tapes and remove a protective cover from an external holder (case) of the hinge. |
|
|
5. Find and remove a big lock ring in the basis of hinged assembly. Remove an external holder (case) of the hinge.
|
6. Take a small lock ring and remove an internal holder assembled with a separator and balls. Carefully clean the removed knot, without sorting it.
7. If the condition of a protective cover is recognized satisfactory and it is subject to further use, wipe a pin of a shaft and wind the site equipped with vents with a protective layer of an adhesive tape, then carefully remove a cover from a shaft.
8. In case of need at this stage it can be removed as well a protective cover of the external BJ hinge. |

Installation

|
1. Check reliability of protection of shlits of a shaft an adhesive tape.
2. Fill a protective cover of the hinge special lubricant (the lubricant which is usually delivered complete with a new cover is divided into two equal parts, one of which leaves on stuffing of cavities of the hinge, the second is pushed in a cover).
3. Put on a shaft a hinge separator (the smaller party of a separator forward). Slightly tapping on perimeter of a face surface with the hammer through a brass drift, accurately begin to knock an internal holder assembly against the stop it in a special coat hanger on a shaft pin. Filling cavities of components lubricant, joint a holder with a separator and fill in the last balls.
4. Also having filled lubricant, establish an external holder (case) of the hinge.
5. Pull on the case of hinged assembly a protective cover (for alignment of pressure hook edge of a cover a blunt tool and let out from under it the air) and fix it by new bandage tapes, - track that the distance between internal and external tapes conformed to standard requirements.
6. Install a shaft on the car (see the Section Removal and installation of power shafts). |

Other hinges
Removal
|
|
|
1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
|
|
If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action! |
2. Remove a power shaft (see the Section Removal and installation of power shafts).
3. Estimate a condition of a rubber protective cover.
4. Bokorezami have a bite bandage tapes and remove a protective cover from the case of hinged assembly.
5. Take a lock ring a lock ring and remove a crosspiece of triode assembly from a shaft pin.

The Tripodny knot is not subject to dismantling and demands care in the address.
|
6. If the condition of a protective cover is recognized satisfactory and it is subject to further use, wipe a pin of a shaft and wind the site equipped with vents with a protective layer of an adhesive tape, then carefully remove from a shaft a dynamic damper (in the presence of that) and a rubber cover / covers. |

Installation
|
|
|
1. Check reliability of protection of shlits of a shaft an adhesive tape.
2. In the appropriate order carefully put covers/covers and a dynamic damper on a shaft (if it is provided).
3. Establish tripodny assembly and record it a lock ring.
4. Fill internal cavities of the hinge special lubricant from a remnabor (use about a half of a reserve of lubricant on stuffing of the hinge, - the second half will leave on filling of a cover).

Try not to allow hits of lubricant on rubber elements of assembly of a dynamic damper if that is provided! |
5. Having filled the lubricant remains a cover, pull it on the hinge case (for alignment of pressure hook edge of a cover a blunt tool and let out from under it the air) and fix by bandage tapes, - track that the distance between internal and external tapes conformed to standard requirements.
6. Install a shaft on the car (see the Section Removal and installation of power shafts) and connect a negative wire to the battery. |
