11:12. Removal and installation of supports of disk brake mechanisms

Remember that the dust produced in the course of operation of brake mechanisms may contain extremely unhealthy asbestos of the person. Do not blow off dust compressed air at all and do not inhale it, - at service of mechanisms put on a protective mask or a respirator. Do not use for rubbing of components of the brake system gasoline or solvents on an oil basis at all, - apply only company cleaners or methyl alcohol!


Supports of both brake mechanisms of one axis have to change at the same time. Remember that at company car repair shops Mitsubishi it is always possible to order the restored assemblies of brake supports on an exchange basis.

Brake mechanisms of forward wheels

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Weaken nuts of fastening of forward wheels. A car front also establish to Poddomkratta it on props. Cock a parking brake / prop up antiretractable boots the wheels standing on the earth.
2. Remove wheels.
3. For the purpose of prevention of excessive lowering of level of the GTTs brake fluid uncover the tank, cover a mouth with a polyethylene film and again screw a cover.
4. Details of installation of a support are shown on an illustration.
5. Disconnect a flexible brake hose at first from the metal line, then from a support (at an otpuskaniye of cap nuts use two keys - see the Section Removal and installation of brake lines).
6. Take the directing and blocking fingers of a support.
7. Remove assembly of a support from an anchor bracket.


Installation

1. If the removed support is subject to further use, carefully wash out it in the special cleaning liquid, - at all do not use kerosene and other oil products for washing of components of the brake mechanism! Attentively check a condition of a support, in case of need make its replacement.
2. Establish a support on the regular place and tighten the directing and blocking bolts with the required effort.
3. Connect a brake hose to a support, - do not forget to replace sealing washers and track that the hose was not overwound.
4. Pump over the corresponding brake contour (see the Section Pumping of the Brake System).
5. Establish to the place of a wheel, lower the car on the earth. Before starting operation of the vehicle make sure of serviceability of functioning of the brake system.


Brake mechanisms of back wheels

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

2. The car also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
3. Remove back wheels.
4. Release the parking brake.
5. Remove a clamp and disconnect a driving cable of the parking brake from assembly of the brake mechanism which is subject to service.
6. For the purpose of prevention of excessive lowering of level of the GTTs brake fluid uncover the tank, cover a mouth with a polyethylene film and again screw a cover.
7. Details of installation of a support are shown on an illustration.
8. On front-wheel models (FWD) turn out a hollow bolt of nipple connection and disconnect a flexible hose from a support of the brake mechanism.
9. On all-wheel drive models (AWD) at first disconnect a brake hose from the metal line, then - from a support (at an otpuskaniye of cap nuts use two keys - see the Section Removal and installation of brake lines).
10. Take a blocking finger and remove a support from an anchor bracket.


Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. On the FWD models connect a brake hose to a support, - do not forget to replace sealing washers of a hollow bolt of nipple connection. Record a hose in a basic arm.
2. On the AWD models connect a hose to a support and tighten a cap nut with the required effort (13 ÷ 17 H • м). Further fix a hose in a basic arm and connect it to a steel tube, - the required effort of tightening of a cap nut makes 13 ÷ 17 H • m again.
3. Track that the flexible brake hose was not overwound in the course of connection.
4. Establish a support on an anchor bracket of the brake mechanism, having tracked for correctness of combination of a lock flute with a block ledge.
5. Previously having greased, screw a blocking finger and tighten it with the required effort (32 H • м).
6. Pump over the corresponding contour of the brake system (see the Section Pumping of the Brake System).
7. Examine hydraulic lines on existence of signs of development of leaks.
8. Establish to the place of a wheel, lower the car on the earth. Before starting operation of the vehicle make sure of serviceability of functioning of the brake system.


The Diamante and Galant models since 1994 of the issue.

Lobbies and back brake mechanisms

In view of the fact that on these models disk brake mechanisms of back wheels are not equipped with the drive of the parking brake, they do not differ on a design from lobbies and are considered together.


Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. The car also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
2. Remove the corresponding wheel.

3. Turn out a hollow bolt of the nipple socket and disconnect a brake hose from a support. For fastening of a hose sockets with cap nuts are used, use two keys and disconnect a hose at first from the metal line and only then - from a support. At once to a zakuporta open end of the hydraulic line.

Try not to allow excessive lowering of level of liquid in the GTTs tank as it will cause need of pumping of all brake path.

4. Turn out the directing and blocking bolts of a support and remove the last from an anchor bracket of the brake mechanism.


Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Lower a support on an anchor bracket.
2. Screw the directing and blocking bolts and tighten them with the required effort (32 H • м).
3. Establish on the place / connect a flexible brake hose (at the corresponding complete set do not forget to replace sealing washers of a hollow bolt of the nipple socket) to a support. Track that the hose was not overwound.
4. Pump over the corresponding contour of a hydraulic path (see the Section Pumping of the Brake System).
5. Squeeze out a pedal of a foot brake and check system for existence of signs of development of leaks.
6. Establish to the place of a wheel, lower the car on the earth. Tighten wheel nuts with the required effort (120 ÷ 140 H • м).
7. Before starting operation of the vehicle make sure of serviceability of functioning of the brake system.
