11:17. Check of a condition of brake boots

Remember that the dust produced in the course of operation of brake mechanisms may contain extremely unhealthy asbestos of the person. Do not blow off dust compressed air at all and do not inhale it, - at service of mechanisms put on a protective mask or a respirator. Do not use for rubbing of components of the brake system gasoline or solvents on an oil basis at all, - apply only company cleaners or methyl alcohol!

You make service of brake assemblies serially, - in case of need the second can be used as an example.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the brake drum (see the Section Removal, installation and check of a condition of the brake drum).

2. Measure the residual thickness of frictional overlays of brake boots.

3. At wear of slips below extreme admissible value (1.0 mm) replace boots assembled with drums.

In order to avoid loss by the car of course stability during braking, replacement of components of brake mechanisms has to be made for both assemblies of one axis in a set.

4. At identification of a noticeable difference in the residual thickness of blocks from the left and right side of the car check serviceability of functioning of wheel cylinders and estimate a condition of working surfaces of their pistons.
