Brake fluid is among aggressive chemical compounds and at contact with body panels destroys a paint and varnish covering. Before starting implementation of the procedure cover wings and the panel of a front of the car with special covers, or just old blankets.


The hydraulic modulator (HCU) is located in a motive compartment of the car and turns on in the structure a set of electromagnetic valves and the electric pump (with the built-in motor). The pump provides necessary rise in pressure in hydraulic system. The modulator is not subject to recovery repair and in case of refusal has to be replaced assembled.

Diamante models

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Details of installation of assembly of the hydraulic modulator on the Diamante models are presented on an illustration.
2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!

3. Remove the lower antispray screen of a motive compartment.
4. By means of the syringe or a rubber pear pump out as much as possible hydraulic liquid from the GTTs tank.
5. Remove and, without disconnecting an electrical wiring, shift the assembly block of the relay aside.
6. Remove an air inlet sleeve.
7. Previously having marked, disconnect brake lines from the hydraulic modulator, - prepare for collecting the spilled liquid. At once to a zakuporta the open ends of tubes in order to avoid hit in system of dirt and moisture.

At an otpuskaniye of nipple nuts the assembly block of the relay should be taken away as it is possible further aside.

8. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the hydraulic modulator.
9. Disconnect the tire of grounding of the modulator from the chassis.
10. Turn out three fixing bolts and remove the modulator assembled with a basic arm.

The modulator has considerable weight and at this stage it will be reasonable to use the help of the assistant. Establish the removed assembly on a workbench in vertical position. Do not subject the modulator to shock loadings!

11. Weaken a fixing nut and remove a basic arm from assembly of the modulator.
12. Disconnect the grounding tire from an arm.


Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If removed, establish a basic arm on assembly of the hydraulic modulator.
2. Connect the grounding tire to an arm.
3. Establish assembly of the modulator on the regular place, - try to hold it vertically all the time.
4. Screw fixing nuts and strongly tighten them.
5. Connect an electrical wiring to the modulator.
6. Freely connect hydraulic lines to the unions on assembly of the modulator (pay attention to the marking put in the course of dismantle). Tighten nipple sockets of each line with the required effort (15 H • м).
7. Fill in fresh brake fluid in the tank, having brought its level to the mark MAX.
8. Pump over a brake path (at first GTTs, then serially each of contours, - see the Section Pumping of the Brake System).
9. Install into place the assembly block of the relay and a sleeve of an air inlet.
10. Install antispray screens.


Galant and Mirage models

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Details of installation of assembly of the hydraulic modulator on the Galant and Mirage models are presented on illustrations.
2. By means of the syringe or a rubber pear pump out as much as possible hydraulic liquid from the GTTs tank.
3. Remove a loker of protection of an arch of the left forward wheel.
4. Remove a broad tank of the cooling system (see the Head of the Cooling system and heating).
5. Remove a basic arm of a broad tank.
6. Remove the dustproof screen installed under assembly of the hydraulic modulator.
7. Previously having marked, disconnect hydraulic hoses and tubes from HCU. At once to a zakuporta the open ends of lines in order to avoid hit in system of dirt and moisture.
8. Uncover the assembly block of the relay and disconnect an electrical wiring from assembly of the modulator.
9. Turn out bolts of fastening of three basic arms, omit HCU assembly down and remove it from the car.

The modulator has considerable weight and at this stage it will be reasonable to use the help of the assistant. Establish the removed assembly on a workbench in vertical position. Do not subject the modulator to shock loadings!

10. In case of need dismantle the relay and basic arms from assembly of the modulator.


Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. If removed, establish basic arms and the relay on assembly of the hydraulic modulator. Tighten fixing bolts with the required effort (22 H • м).
2. Establish HCU on the regular place, - try to hold assembly vertically all the time.
3. Screw fixing bolts and tighten them them with the required effort (22 H • м).
4. Connect an electrical wiring to the modulator.
5. Install a cover on the assembly block of the relay.
6. Connect hydraulic lines to the unions on assembly of the modulator (pay attention to the marking put in the course of dismantle). Tighten nipple sockets of each line with the required effort (13 H • м).
7. Fill in fresh brake fluid in the tank, having brought its level to the mark MAX.
8. Pump over the brake system (see the Section Pumping of the Brake System).
9. Install into place the dustproof screen and a broad tank of the cooling system with the arm.
10. Establish a loker of protection of a wheel arch.
11. Include ignition and make sure of serviceability of operation of a control lamp of ABS on the dashboard.
12. Carry out trial runs of the car.
